Overview
Working with us, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with physical, learning and developmental disabilities including those with profound and multiple disabilities, behaviour that can challenge and/or autism. Roles require compassion, patience, resilience and a commitment to bringing your best self to work everyday.
You will work on one of our central Taunton sites - day care or one of our learning rooms that deliver ASDAN qualifications and other Life Long Learning opportunities). You will ensure they receive great person-centred support, meaningful opportunities and for students - that they create portfolios evidencing learning and development.
Duties
*Provide personal care and support to clients.
*Support with healthy eating, meal prep etc according to SALT/dietary requirements and preferences.
*Implement positive behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions, emotional development and well-being.
*Drive your own or company/clients vehicles (subject to licencing and insurance requirements)
*Maintain accurate records of progress and reporting any changes in health or behaviour as appropriate
*Work in a supportive and encouraging way that builds a positive environment to promote independence, learning and meaningful choices while ensuring safety and comfort.
Skills
*Experience of working in learning and/or physical disability care essential.
*Clear, written and spoken English essential
*Experience of working with behaviours that can challenge is essential for education/learning roles.
*Knowledge of how to deliver person centred outcomes essential
*Strong skills in positive behaviour management to assist with behaviours that may challenge.
*A compassionate approach that prioritises the preferences and needs of those we support.
*Ability to drive with a valid driving licence is desirable, though not essential.
*Creative and happy disposition, that is adaptable and resilient day after day
*Ability to undertake administration using technology essential (with appropriate tools for those who need additional support with the written word)
*Right to work in the UK without sponsorship is essential.
These roles would be ideal for individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others through learning, development and support by person-centre care.
16 - 30 hours per week depending on contract.
Main working hours between 7.30 am and 5pm
Monday to Friday according to rota plus one or two Saturdays a year for training.
