Ruddington Veterinary Centre (Ruddington)
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Student Veterinary Nurse at Ruddington Veterinary Centre.
Location: Clifton, Nottingham
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday between 08.15 – 19.00 pro rata with a share in the Saturday rota
About the role:
The SVN role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a SVN you would be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients, working alongside a lovely team of people.
Some of the duties will include:
1. Nursing care to patients
2. Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
3. Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
4. Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
5. General cleaning and maintenance duties
6. Running internal lab samples
7. Answering emergency calls
8. Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments
What we're looking for in our new Student Veterinary Nurse:
1. Receptionist or PCA experience would be preferred
2. An excellent communicator with strong empathy
3. Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
4. Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
5. Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
6. A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
7. Five GCSE's at Grade C/4 or above so you are eligible for college enrolment
