The Cabinet Office Analysis & Insight Team is searching for an economist with good knowledge of business case development, the Treasury Green Book, and 5 Case Model. This is to support the spending and investment process in the Cabinet Office providing review, quality assurance, upskilling and advice services across the organisation on behalf of the Cabinet Office’s Chief Economist. The Cabinet Office operates successfully across a multitude of geographical sites, and supports a hybrid model of work where staff can split their time between office and remote working. The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. The Department has four core priorities: Support the Prime Minister and Cabinet to deliver the government’s missions Drive efficiencies and reforms that will make government work better Create a more united democracy Strengthen and secure the United Kingdom at home and abroad

Analysis and Insight (A&I) provides critical data, analysis and evidence to inform decisions about the Civil Service and Cabinet Office (CO). We support a range of customers within CO and more widely across government.

* Supporting the Chief Economist in the review and quality assurance of Business Critical Models (BCMs)
* Supporting the Cabinet Offices’ legislative programme by aiding the drafting and review of impact assessments
* Advising on and reviewing economic business cases and Spending Review bids
* Scrutiny of economic analytical work from across the Cabinet Office
* Undertaking ad hoc project work on high priority Cabinet Office areas
* Exploring the potential applications of artificial intelligence in our work
* Delivering training on business cases and impact assessments to upskill Cabinet Office staff
* Support of the economics profession with Cabinet Office, including assessing applications for the economics masters apprenticeship
