This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Clinical or Counselling psychologist to join busy and vibrant chronic pain and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Teams in Glasgow. The pain service within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest in Scotland, hosting mature services for those with persistent pain across all service levels and nationally. The successful candidate will work flexibly as part of multi-professional teams and provide both individual and group work. There are opportunities to be involved in service development such as Compassion-Focused group work, multidisciplinary assessment and joint working.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation service offers an opportunity to deliver individual psychological work, alongside contributing to the psychological support delivered through the Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes. You will be expected to work closely with the service manager and the PR team, who highly value the psychologist's role and are keen attenders of any psychologically informed training. There is also the opportunity to provide consultation to wider Respiratory teams across NHS GGC, link with 3rd sector supports and become involved in innovative technology developments such as the online COPD platform
As well as working in group and individual settings, you will be involved in MDT vetting and triage of patients referred to the pain service, and be expected to liaise and work with colleagues in mental health and Trauma services. An understanding of, and willingness to work with trauma within the context of pain management would be essential. You will support your colleagues in the MD team in developing and maintaining their psychosocial practice. You will attend weekly MD team meetings. Within Pulmonary Rehabilitation, you will be expected to work closely with the service manager and the team, delivering aspects of group based interventions, individual work and scoping out the role of psychology within other areas of the Respiratory service.
The post holder will be managed within the Acute Psychology Service, which comprises a large group of psychologists working across a range of clinical health and neuropsychology services. This provides the post holder with a supportive Psychology collegiate. This post will be based at the Stobhill and Gartnavel Hospitals but please note that as you will be an integrated member of both teams you may be required to work periodically at other sites.
You should demonstrate advanced theoretical and practical knowledge as a Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychologist which has been obtained through post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology as accredited by BPS or HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology and two or more distinct psychological therapies. In addition to this, you should be HCPC registered as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. The hours for this post are worked between Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
