Purpose Of Position
* To organise the auxiliary staff team in ensuring that they clean all areas of the home on a regular basis.
* To ensure that the auxiliary team maintains a hygienic and safe environment for the clients.
* To organise and share with other staff in meeting the cleaning requirements of the home’s clients in such a way that respects the privacy and dignity of the individual and promotes their independence where possible.
* To ensure that an adequate stock of suitable materials for cleaning the home is maintained.
* To ensure that the home is always kept in a safe environment to ensure the safety of all clients and staff.
* To support Manager in the delegation of cleaning/domestic staff.
* To oversee the Infection control measures of the home and undertake monthly audits.
* To oversee the Supervisions and appraisal of the auxiliary team.
* To keep in budget to cleaning and laundry items.
Principal Responsibilities
* Clean and tidy all the clients’ rooms on a regular basis, ensuring that the clients' privacy and dignity are respected.
* Hoover rooms, wash hand basins and en-suite toilets.
* Assist with the emotional care of the clients by communicating with them in a caring manner whilst about cleaning duties.
* Assist clients with the care of their flowers and plants.
* Report any problems the clients may have to the Manager / Nurse in Charge.
* Ensure toilets and bathrooms are kept safe, clean and as hygienic as possible.
* Wash woodwork, paintwork, and floors regularly.
* Clean and tidy all communal areas without disturbing the enjoyment of the clients using the facilities.
* Draft a Spring Cleaning routine for the home and programme it into the daily work schedule to ensure all areas of the home get a special clean periodically.
* Report any dangers found or maintenance requirements to the Manager / Maintenance person immediately.
* Answer the front door and the telephone appropriately as and when required.
* Always wear appropriate protective clothing, such as overalls and gloves supplied by the home.
* Ensure chemicals are used safely and stored properly, with hazardous substances locked away to prevent misuse.
* Ensure at all times that there is an adequate supply of clean linen (sheets, towels, toiletries, etc.) available for use.
* Help look after residents' clothing and belongings.
* Maintain stock rotation and order stock, liaising with the office for any additional equipment needed.
* Supervise the cleaners.
* Maintain all equipment regularly, empty vacuum cleaners, and report any faults to the Manager / Maintenance person.
* Ensure that the equipment does not represent a hazard to the clients or other staff at any time.
* Be prepared to undertake training as deemed necessary by management.
* Be aware of the Fire Safety Procedure of the home and attend a minimum of one Fire Safety lecture each year.
* Adhere to all the Home’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
* Assist other staff if needed, i.e., in an emergency.
* Perform such other duties that may be required.
* Respect the confidentiality of all matters learned during employment and comply with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Pay: £17,550.00-£19,500.00 per year
