The Role Reporting to the Production Manager, the Section Leader is responsible for the health, safety, and wellbeing of team members; ensuring they are effectively trained, with a focus on company quality standards whilst meeting efficiency and productivity targets. Working hours: Monday – Thursday 6am-2pm Friday 6am – 12pm Working style: Fully On - site Responsibilities Health & Safety/ Wellbeing • Ownership of safety metrics for assigned area. • Ensure that team members understand and comply with health and safety regulations, company quality and environmental standards always following safe working practices within standard operating procedures. • Identify team training needs by reviewing and maintaining the section training matrix and arranging/ undertaking training to ensure that team members are competent, developed and flexibility of operations achieved. • Support employee wellbeing by having regular check-ins with team members and conducting return to work meetings after absences. • Conduct incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and provide timely reports to management; ensuring all remedial actions are completed. • Be a role model for quality and proactively seek team process improvements Quality • Coordinate with internal teams to solve production planning issues and resource/skill allocation to ensure products are delivered to schedule and build quality standards maintained. • Perform regular product checks to ensure consistency of quality and build conformity, supporting team members with a continuous improvement focus. • Be a role model for quality and proactively seek team process improvements. Efficiency • Ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are displayed, monitored, and targets achieved. • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to team operations, aiming to exceed company targets in productivity, efficiency and quality. Productivity • Liaise with internal teams to solve issues with production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure both a quality build and product availability to support dispatch times delivery times. • Outline the production plan in line with the schedule utilising labour resources to ensure they are fully effective, raise escalation and potential problems in a timely manner to ensure schedule is achieved. • Monitoring of production cell hour by hour to include visual monitoring and study of hour by hour perforce People Management Ensure the delivery of the production schedule within area of accountability. • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required. • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues including 1st Stage absence management and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity. • Disciplinary investigations • Motivate and coach the team to operational success. • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them. • Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware. • Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility. • Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting. • Setting individual objectives to team members. Continuous Improvement Proactively help to resolve customer product concerns by root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions, ensuring team buy-in to changes. • Lead regular shift team briefings that focus on quality, cost and delivery ensuring that team members are encouraged to contribute continuous improvement ideas that are fed back through management processes. • Effectively implement engineering changes, production trials and model changes. • Ensure that internal and external audit standards are maintained, and that timely action is taken to address any improvement requirements identified.
