*This role is remote with the requirement to travel throughout the UK and to Bolton Head Office.
As the Governance and Assurance Lead, you will be a key part of the management team responsible for ensuring good practice is adhered to when it comes to governance, safeguarding, and health & safety. You will provide guidance and recommendations to staff where necessary, as well as organizing any relevant training where appropriate. You will work closely with senior management, providing regular updates and highlighting any potential risks or concerns that will need to be addressed.
Main duties of the job
Governance and Quality Assurance
1. Support the contracts under your remit to ensure all of the governance arrangements operate in line with organisational expectations and CQC requirements (safe, effective, responsive, caring & well led).
2. Oversee the monthly audit evidence submissions and support the Operational Leads where required in the interest of service improvement and regulatory compliance.
3. Prepare and submit timely reports on governance, audit findings, and service quality improvement initiatives to senior management as required.
4. Contribute to the overall quality assurance of ABL Governance systems and take remedial action to improve these where required.
5. Support senior management to implement organisational policies, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and best practice.
6. Take part in companywide steering groups around governance, safeguarding, and health and safety.
7. Review incidents on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and where required, conduct investigations into significant incidents and complaints. Support services to implement the identified actions for compliance.
Health and Safety (Governance, Assurance and Compliance)
1. Act as a focal point for staff Health & Safety enquiries.
2. Present governance and compliance updates to the Health and Safety Review Board and other organisational performance review boards as required.
3. Promote and support Health and Safety good practice in the workplace by providing information and relevant training to build staff capability and knowledge.
4. Where required, undertake mandatory risk assessments and consider how risks can be reduced.
5. Provide support on workplace adjustments by managing reasonable adjustment requests, providing equipment where required.
6. Undertake site safety inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and ensuring all documentation is up to date.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Minimum of 2 years working in a health or social care related field.
* IOSH or NEBOSH Qualified.
* Safeguarding Level 4 (Designated Safeguarding Officer).
* Safeguarding supervision.
* There will be the opportunity to gain these qualifications if you do not hold them.
Experience
* A mature understanding of Governance systems in a health or social care setting.
* Understanding and experience of regulatory compliance in a CQC regulated setting.
* Experience working in a health promotion setting.
* Experience in a leadership role.
Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrable leadership skills and a positive attitude and approach to communicating with staff.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels, with individuals, groups, organisations, and the public.
* Excellent organisational/time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
* Ability to work under pressure with resilience in challenging situations.
* Ability to read and interpret data.
* Clear understanding and experience of Confidentiality and Information Governance.
* Competence in creating reports from electronic information systems.
Job Specific Requirements
* The ability to travel independently across Nottinghamshire and as required to ABL Health HQ in Greater Manchester.
* Work flexibly and adapt to suit service needs.
