We currently have 2 exciting opportunities within Nationwide Platforms as a Technical Trainer. As Technical Trainer you will be working with the External Training team, covering the South area.
As a Technical Trainer you will be responsible for technical skills development covering Nationwide Platforms fleet, specifically MEWP’s, Truck and Van Mounted equipment, Tracked Booms and BlueSky products for engineers in the UK and occasionally internationally.
Frequent travel is involved (approximately three days each week) and dependent on home location may including overnight stays. The engineering side of the business is highly reactive, so a flexible, adaptable, resilient character is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
1. You will be developed to be able to teach and deliver the following engineering-based courses(but not limited to): Pre-Delivery/Post-Hire Inspection Foundation Courses Tech Electrics Tech Hydraulics Tech Schematics Tech Engine Tech Inspection - Pre-Delivery/Post-Hire Inspection Advanced Fault Finding: Electrical systems, Hydraulic systems Accreditation for Manufacturer Training Courses
2. Development and maintenance of courseware ensuring it stays current
3. Delivery of a minimum of 100 Training Days in a full calendar year (face to face, virtual and online). Additional development and stakeholder consultancy days will be agreed and measured
4. Be an ambassador for the company with high integrity, respect for others. A role model for safe working and uncompromising standards, drives QHSE compliance, embeds behavioural safety
5. Project manage the completion of small training programmes
6. Plan and execute Train the Trainer (TtT) sessions where applicable
7. Prepare training with risk assessments for classroom and practical facilities
8. Conduct tests/assessments to required standard with accurate, legible completion of all relevant paperwork
9. Undertake training courses as requested and work towards relevant qualifications e.g. NVQ Assessor qualifications, CAP, manufacturer qualifications where applicable
Qualifications/Experience
As part of this job role the company will provide training and qualification to Level 3 Education and Training (PTLLS), so there is a requirement for the role holder to complete all necessary development activities, formal and informal and to play a highly active role in attaining the qualification. This will form part of your career journey and upon successful qualification as an IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) Instructor, the seniority level for the role will be moved from Band 3 to Band 4. This role has strong development opportunities including apprenticeships in teaching or learning and development and other areas
Essential experience and skills:
10. A base level of formal qualification in an aligned area e.g.; Heavy plant and equipment maintenance, Powered Access, Fork Truck, Telehandler, Crane, Heavy vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent
11. Good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels with an engaging and cheerful style
12. An open and inquisitive approach to work, prepared to think outside of the box, adaptable and responsive
13. Able to deal with ambiguity and change, resilient, strong work ethic
14. Well organised, with effective self-management and time management skills
15. A high standard of literacy & numeracy
16. Comfortable working at height
17. Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable requirements and skills:
18. Extensive experience of Powered Access Engineering with relevant qualifications and manufacturer training
19. Good Microsoft Office skills; Writing PowerPoint presentations and participant handouts using Word
20. Experience of coaching, mentoring, tutoring or teaching within a business or learning establishment
