Lancashire Constabulary is pleased to be opening our Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) recruitment window for those candidates interested in joining our force July 2025.
We offer a unique, stimulating and rewarding career with an opportunity to make a real difference to your community.
As a police officer, your job will be to keep people safe and feeling safe as well as delivering a competent and compassionate service 24/7. It's not all about crime, it's also about helping people who are vulnerable and making their lives better.
You will work as an officer from your first day and we will enable you to unleash your full potential by providing dedicated support and training that will support your professional development.
We are looking for outstanding candidates to join frontline policing within Lancashire, with drive and passion to provide the best possible police service to all our diverse communities ensuring they receive an outstanding policing service.
In line with our pledge to support veterans and serving armed forces who are considering Policing as a career, we have amended our entry requirements for serving and ex-military applicants. You would be required to be released or ready to be released in time for the July or September 2025 intake.
Your starting salary will be £29,907 with annual increments rising to £48,231 per annum after 7 years' service.
The Police Constable Entry Programme is a non-degree route into uniformed policing and is a two-year training programme where you will begin your training at the Lancashire Constabulary HQ in Hutton, near Preston. The training includes both classroom-based and practical learning. Upon successful completion of the initial training, you will join an operational policing team where you will continue your learning and development whilst undertaking operational day-to-day police duties.
You will commence a number of operational, written and practical assessments (including exams) throughout the programme to demonstrate your ability to carry out your policing responsibilities. Student officers will be fully supported throughout the process in applying new skills and knowledge.
For those at the beginning of their career, they will be fully supported and given everything they need to succeed in the role and with all studying elements. For those looking for a change of career, they will benefit from this support and will utilise their existing skills in the role. Joining through this non-degree entry route has no impact on your career within the police; you will still be able to seek promotion in the future or move into the Detective Investigation Arena.
You will need to hold the following qualification at the time of appointment:
1. At least 2 A-Level's or equivalent Level 3 qualification
2. Level 2 qualifications (GCSE's) in English Language and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or equivalent
Those candidates with over 12 months experience currently working as a PCSO, Special Constable, Custody Detention Officer (CDO) or work within the Police Control Room (PCRO) but do not hold the required qualifications, are encouraged to apply with Lancashire Constabulary as experience will be taken into account, on an individual basis accordingly.
(Lancashire Constabulary employees must have completed their tenure period as per Statement of Particulars)
In line with our pledge to support Veterans and serving armed forces who are considering a career in the Police, we are now accepting applications from candidates from our Armed Forces who do not hold the required qualifications but have completed a minimum of 2 years' service and have left the service no more than 2 years ago. We consider their previous work experience gained from a military career an alternative entry requirement.
There are no complicated application form questions to complete, just some eligibility questions. Our new improved application form will only take 10-15 minutes to complete.
