A well-established and highly regarded Town Planning and Heritage Consultancy is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic planning professional to join their team. With a strong track record in securing planning permissions, they work across a range of sectors including commercial and residential development. Their clients include major hotel, restaurant, and coffee shop groups, housebuilders, land promoters, breweries, banks, sports and leisure operators, retailers, property developers, and private healthcare organisations, as well as public sector clients.
Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planning consultant to join at a level between Senior Planner and Principal Consultant. The successful candidate will work closely with directors, colleagues, developers, architects, and local authorities to deliver high-quality planning services and advice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide specialist planning advice to clients and colleagues, ensuring compliance with planning policies and legislation.
* Manage planning applications, appeals, and pre-application advice processes.
* Prepare planning appraisals, statements, and appeal documentation.
* Conduct research, oversee work by junior staff, and liaise with local authorities and stakeholders.
* Attend and lead client meetings, planning committees, and public consultation events.
* Proactively seek new business opportunities, attend networking events, and contribute to marketing initiatives.
* Maintain accurate records and forecasting reports.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Member of the RTPI.
* Degree in Planning or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 2 years' experience for Senior Planner level, 5 years for Consultant/Principal Consultant level.
* Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, NPPF, and Planning Practice Guidance.
* Experience in preparing planning statements, site appraisals, and local plan representations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team.
