Job Purpose: The main purpose of the job is to provide a cleaning service for the school, unlock or lock and secure the school as required, maintain stock levels of cleaning materials, and supervise a team of cleaners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the team of cleaners ensuring a high level of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the school while following Health & Safety guidelines.
2. Work in various types of rooms, including offices, classrooms, hall, corridors, toilets, and empty outdoor bins.
3. Undertake the cleaning of designated areas within the premises to ensure they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.
4. In the absence of a cleaner, re-designate and prioritize areas for cleaning daily, and communicate decisions with the Head Teacher and Premises and Compliance Manager.
5. Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and complete purchase requisitions as per the ELAT Staff Ordering Process.
6. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, adhering to the relevant ELAT Child Protection Policy and Procedures.
7. Liaise with site staff, Premises and Compliance Manager, and line managers as required.
8. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the designated area, which includes cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, and emptying litter bins.
9. Safely use chemicals and cleaning materials as instructed by the Premises and Compliance Manager, following Health and Safety guidelines and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
10. Operate cleaning machinery on soft and hard surfaces, e.g., vacuum cleaners and polishers, following Health & Safety guidelines.
11. Maintain all school standards of hygiene and safety of all cleaning equipment and cleaning cupboards in your charge.
12. Report any hazards, defects, or relevant factors of building or environmental safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices to the Premises and Compliance Manager, utilizing the Parago system as required.
