We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.6 WTE) Band 7 Prehabilitation Dietitian at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In this newly funded position, you will work closely with Physiotherapy and Anaesthetic teams to deliver the Trust’s ‘Prepare to Recover’ programme. This is an exciting time to join the team, with the development of a new surgical elective centre at Ashford Hospital, which will provide increased capacity for elective procedures, including orthopaedics.
This post would suit a self-motivated and innovative dietitian who is keen to assist with developing a new prehabilitation service in a friendly, supportive environment.

You will be fully integrated into the Prehabilitation Multidisciplinary Team including Physiotherapists, Anaesthetists, Nurses and Therapy Assistants. You will join our Surgical Dietetics Team of 5 Surgical Dietitians, a Nutrition ACP and a Dietetic Support Worker.
You will be involved in delivering group education sessions and 1:1 dietetic consultations to patients as part of the ‘Prepare to Recover’ programme. This programme is delivered in community-based settings. Your caseload will include orthopaedic patients and other high risk surgical patients. The post will also include some inpatient work.
In addition to clinical work, an important part of this new role is leading on developing and evaluating the dietetic provision to the prehabilitation programme, resulting in new and innovative ways of working.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to develop supervision skills by supporting junior staff and students.
The postholder will:
1. Act as a specialist Dietitian in the field of prehabilitation.
2. Be responsible for the delivery of prehabilitation alongside anaesthetic and AHP colleagues.
3. Undertake advanced nutritional assessments and deliver dietetic interventions to patients who are on the prehabilitation programme. These patients often have complex and/or chronic presentations.
4. Deliver group education sessions to patients as part of the prehabilitation programme.
5. Deliver 1:1 dietetic consultations as part of the prehabilitation programme, both in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
6. Work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision.
7. Act as an expert dietetic resource for the prehabilitation team.
8. Take a role in supervision and teaching - providing day-to-day support to junior dietetic staff within the team, participating in multi-disciplinary team teaching and student education.
9. Be responsible for setting and monitoring of standards and policies of dietetic clinical practice for the prehabilitation service and evaluate outcomes.
10. Demonstrate leadership skills in the areas of service development, quality improvement projects and monitoring of standards of practice to develop multidisciplinary management of patients.
