An exciting opportunity has arisen within our older peoples Meadowview Ward at Thurrock Community Hospital for a part-time Activity Coordinator. Meadowview is a Dementia Assessment Unit for older adults with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms in Dementia.
We are seeking an innovative and creative individual to join our in-patient team with the aim of providing activities for our patients.
Main duties of the job
As part of the multi-disciplinary ward team, you will be developing intervention pathways and expanding our support for people with chronic, long-term mental health needs.
We are looking for someone who can work flexibly; as well as working weekdays, you may also be required to work some early evenings and weekends.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Ward manager, supported by a registered Occupational Therapist (OT), you will be expected to assist in the delivery of recreational activities within the service. Activities will be delivered one to one and through group work and may include creative, social and physical activities, the majority of which will be on the ward environment.
Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* Understanding of the use of activities
* NVQ level 3 or previous relevant experience
* Previous experience of working in the NHS
* Experience in skills-based work e.g. cooking, craft, sports etc.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of group planning
* Understanding of health and safety
Skills/Experience
* Literate in IT/Computer Skills
* Good oral communication skills based on fluency in the English language
* Organisational and practical skills e.g. cooking, crafts, exercise
