Electrical and Controls Engineer

Our client can demonstrate almost half a century's expertise in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke special purpose automation solutions for a diverse range of industry sectors and applications and are regarded by many in the industry as one of the leading automation systems providers in the whole of the UK.
As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth for 2024 and beyond, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Electrical and Controls Engineer to complement their established and successful multidisciplinary systems team and play a critical role in the design and delivery of machine control solutions for a range of special purpose automated machinery-based projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver control and safety systems that comply with the requirements of the machinery directive.
2. Undertake electrical system design on a range of projects.
3. Select and procure components and generate detailed circuit diagrams.
4. Follow machine control and safety system projects through to development and commissioning stages.
5. Create electrical documentation including circuit diagrams and BOM's.
6. Ensure compliance with UKCA and CE mark, UK, European and international safety standards.
7. Maintain clear and concise technical documentation, design specifications, and machine manuals.
8. Supervise electrical technicians and control the build of the machine control systems.
9. Develop a standardized approach to the delivery of efficient and cost-effective control systems.
10. Ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery, especially for regulated medical sector projects (e.g., GAMP 5).
Requirements:
1. Degree level or equivalent in a relevant electrical, electrical or controls engineering discipline.
2. At least 5 years previous experience in electrical design for automation or special purpose machinery controls.
3. Knowledge of ePlan is distinctly advantageous.
4. Basic understanding of software design and PLC coding with exposure to B&R, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, and Rockwell.
5. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) at all levels.
6. Flexible approach to travel to customer sites as required.
7. Must live within a commutable radius of Leicester.
