Senior Legal Counsel
London Area – hybrid role
ISS are now recruiting for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their growing team and provide support to the Procurement function within the business.
The main purpose of this role is to provide legal support to the UK & Ireland’s Supply Chain and Procurement function (SC&P). You will provide legal support to the commercial legal team and SC&P during the lifecycle of a transaction: bid, negotiation, BAU and exit/termination.
This is a fast-moving, multi-tasking role, so we are seeking a candidate that has experience of advising and negotiating on complex supply contracts, and other commercial contracts, so a deep knowledge of contract law is necessary. The successful candidate must also have solid knowledge of data protection in commercial transactions, competition law, TUPE and intellectual property rights issues.
You will be responsible for:
* Negotiating and advising on commercial agreements with suppliers (supply of goods and services, equipment hire, IT contracts and others).
* Drafting and negotiating subcontractor agreements and flow-down terms.
* Direct support to the SC&P Director and the Procurement Leadership Team on various issues, including strategic decisions.
* Supporting the business with disputes with clients or suppliers and instructing external counsel where necessary.
* Advising on legal developments and implications for the business.
* Supporting the Procurement Excellence team on supplier assurance issues.
* Maintaining and updating standard supplier contract terms
* Providing legal support to other parts of the business, including:
* Central Leadership Team on ad hoc legal queries or work groups.
* Central functions, such as Tax, People & Culture, IT, H&S, Ops Performance (third-party Safety).
* ISS Group Legal on global deals that have a UK perspective.
* Advising relevant stakeholders on new product or solution roll-outs, including those that involve the use of third-party solutions.
Key Requirements:
* UK qualified Lawyer
* Strong commercial contracts experience – procurement exposure would be ideal
* Preferably have experience within the Facilities Management industry or similar
* Able to provide concise advice that takes into account the commercial realities of the transaction
* Working autonomously with minimal supervision
* Confidently deal with internal and external stakeholders from different levels of the business and able to tailor approach accordingly.
* Proactive approach to working and comfortable with stepping outside one’s comfort zone when it comes to learning new areas of law and facilitating negotiations as a business partner
