Do you want to play a crucial role in protecting Defra's services, ensuring they remain secure, resilient and reliable?
Defra Group Security within Digital, Data Technology and Security (DDTS) is looking for a Security Advisor – Protective Security.
In Defra you will understand the key threats to the department and wider government and use this information to assess the risks to your business. You will support senior colleagues to determine how to manage security risks affecting all business areas. You will be responsible for maintaining a network of security contacts across the organisation and working closely with the Department's Ministerial teams, wider employees, HR and estates teams to ensure their physical and personnel security needs are met.
In this role you will act as liaison and intelligent customer with the Protective Security Centre (PSC), Government Property Agency (GPA), UK Security Vetting Agency (UKSV)and National Protective Security Authority (NPSA). You will liaise with these partner agencies and senior customers within Defra to ensure the delivery of critical security services, including National Security Vetting, and Technical Security services are maintained to high standards.
In this fast-paced and challenging role you will find great opportunities and real job satisfaction! You will ensure all Defra’s physical infrastructure projects incorporate security needs from the outset, to ensure a risk-balanced approach to meet the Department’s mandatory policy and regulatory objectives are met. This includes leading the implementation of the requirements of the new Protect Duty, improving the protection of publicly accessible places from terrorist attacks. You will lead teams assuring that Defra’s existing sites meet minimum Physical Security Standards.
Please note this post requires the candidate to hold Security Check (SC) clearance as a minimum with a requirement to go through the Developed Vetting (DV) process if successful. If this requirement is not met, the individual will not be able to progress their application further.
