Senior Chemist – Aerospace Sealants S&T Team Shildon We are looking for a Senior Chemist to develop and improve aerospace sealant formulations. This role involves leading R&D projects, optimizing existing products, and supporting technical and manufacturing teams. Main responsibilities: Carry out laboratory work related to Task Requests and Projects. Develop new products to meet customer requirements, current and future environmental legislation in order to maintain current market share and obtain new business. Engineer/modify existing products to meet customer requirements. Provide advice and recommendations to other departments and customers to assist in solving potential problems and queries. Carry out other work as required according to Task request system. Input formulations into site MRP system. Make decisions regarding adjustment and release of production batches, raw material selection and substitution and modification of internal product specifications. Meet with suppliers to discuss new materials or problems with existing materials. Support quality department in resolution of customer complaints. Supports Industrialization in the establishment of manufacturing processes. Carry out daily responsibilities relating to EHS, 5S and any other company initiatives Competencies: Chemistry degree/equivalent is required IT literate. Experience of Microsoft packages, particularly Word and Excel The ideal candidate must be a strong team player and be able to get results by working with others Ability to prioritise, organise and able to work under pressure Good Communication skills Ability to formulate coatings (training will be provided) Qualifications: Qualifications & Skills BSc (5 years) or MSc (3 years) in Chemistry. Experience in adhesive/sealant formulation (aerospace or automotive preferred). Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills. Good communication and collaboration abilities. Proficiency in IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical analysis.
