Due to the location of our sites you must have your own transport.
JUNIOR ENVIRONMENTAL & HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR
Reporting to the HSE Manager, this role will provide support to the day to day environmental function to both sites, proactively improving the site's environmental systems and processes along with assisting the HSE Manager with any required H&S matters:
1. Coordinate the short & long-term group strategic plans to raise the standards of environment at the sites as directed by the HSE Manager.
2. Assist managers and supervisors to identify hazards in the workplace and to take corrective action or initiate controls to minimize the risk.
3. Carry out environmental and health & safety risk assessments in line with legislation and update and review when necessary.
4. Advise managers and supervisors on the implementation of local practices and procedures to ensure that the site complies with statutory requirements, guidelines, and group standards.
5. Coordinate emergency response procedures during a drill or real time incident.
6. Coordinate mandatory site surveys such as fire, noise, slip, DSEAR etc.
7. Coordinate the reset program across all areas of the site.
8. Be the first point of contact for all environmental and H&S matters.
9. Proactively support and coordinate the health & safety management system (ISO45001) for the site.
10. Assist in creating and reviewing of risk assessments after accidents/incidents.
11. Liaise with the site management in respect of updates and changes in the HS&E policies and procedures.
12. Support departments during the investigation of accidents & near misses that occur on site.
13. Ensure all environmental and H&S issues/reports/complaints are reported/recorded correctly and accurately.
14. Assist in carrying out internal environmental and H&S audits and inspections.
15. Proactively promote awareness and culture of environment (second nature) and health & safety throughout the site.
16. Support the site with internal monthly H&S meetings.
17. Support the implementation of the company's HSE policies and procedures.
18. Look at continually improving existing systems and procedures.
19. Actively promote best practice health & wellbeing across both sites.
20. Coordinate the medical screening on both sites with assistance from the HR team.
21. Ad hoc duties as required in line with your capabilities and range of skills.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Food Industry experience is desirable but not essential.
2. You must be a Team player with a 'can do' attitude.
3. Full UK driving license.
4. Ideally a background in FMCG.
5. Lead with behavioural health & safety with a view to promote and encourage best practice and cultural changes.
6. IEMA in foundation management or equivalent (would be desirable but full training will be provided).
7. IOSH managing safely or equivalent (would be desirable but full training will be provided).
