Want to help? Join our Microbiology and Cryptosporidium Team in Edinburgh as a Scientist. You’ll be on the front lines of making sure Scotland’s water is totally, dependably pure.
What you’ll be doing
1. Prioritising work within your team and managing routine maintenance of instrumentation to avoid unplanned downtime.
2. Undertaking microbiological testing, including membrane filtration, flow cytometry and microscopy to ensure the quality of Scotland’s Water.
3. Working to ISO 17025 standards.
4. Ensuring 100% compliance with health and safety standards.
What you’ll need
1. A passion for science and knowledge of microbiological testing and analysis.
2. An HND or degree-level qualification in Microbiology or a related discipline.
3. Experience in an ISO 17025 or GLP-accredited analytical laboratory is preferred.
4. A commitment to delivering great customer service and improving processes.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) role with some weekend working and standby requirements. You’ll receive:

The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 5 with a starting salary of £29,800, progressing to a maximum of £35,760 based on performance. The laboratory operates from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm, with shifts covering these hours, including weekends.
