Job summary The post is a fixed term 12-month post. The post is 4PA which comprises one late shift per week, 1:4 weekend work and protected time for supporting professional activities (SPA) The CED sits within the Emergency Department. It has its own establishment of paediatric nurses, supplemented by adult emergency department nurses. It has two Paediatric Emergency Consultants providing 1.65 WTE consultant cover. In addition there are 16 WTE Emergency Medicine Consultants for the wider department who also work shifts in CED. Main duties of the job Clinical Duties: The successful candidate will work as a middle grade doctor solely in the Children's ED. They will be responsible for the initial assessment and management of acutely unwell and injured children who present or are referred to the Children's Emergency Department. They will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team in the Children's Emergency Department to provide excellent care to children from our local area. They will have protected non-clinical time to continue their professional development and pursue relevant educational and governance activities. They will have an allocated educational supervisor and access to study leave and study budget. Management Duties: To be responsible to the Departmental Consultants and Clinical Lead. To undertake all necessary administration duties associated with the care of patients.
