Elevation are excited to be supporting a unique opportunity for a Process Engineer to join a reputable and well-established manufacturing business based in Rotherham.
You will be directly involved in the design and manufacture of jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support production, while also playing a key role in process analysis and improvement. This is an ideal role for a technically minded engineer with strong machining experience who is also passionate about driving efficiency and innovation in manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities for the role of Process Engineer:
1. Design and manufacture jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support and improve production efficiency
2. Operate and programme milling machines and lathes
3. Maintain and repair existing tooling and fixtures to minimise production downtime
4. Record and document all newly created or modified jigs and fixtures
Process Engineering Duties:
1. Work closely with a senior engineer to gain a comprehensive understanding of production processes and tooling setups
2. Assist in the setup and maintenance of equipment within the pressing department
3. Investigate and resolve production issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
4. Monitor and reduce scrap levels while identifying opportunities to enhance overall efficiency
5. Produce and maintain detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures
6. Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required
7. Use data analysis to support continuous improvement initiatives
8. Contribute to Lean and Six Sigma activities aimed at process optimisation
Minimum Qualifications:
1. HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
2. Strong hands-on experience in a machining environment, including the use of milling machines and lathes
3. A genuine interest in process engineering and manufacturing efficiency
Desirable (but not essential):
1. Experience with pressing processes and tooling setups
2. Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
3. Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for designing jigs and fixtures
4. Strong understanding of workshop and machining best practices
