IN SHORT
MK College Group have an exciting opportunity for a skilled English Lecturer to join the team based at HMP Maidstone.
As a Lecturer for HMP Maidstone, you will be actively engaging prison-based students in Functional Skills English courses, from Entry Level 1, up to higher Level 2. You will design and deliver the course in your own style, complete with creative classes and resources. Many of the students have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, often having had a negative experience with education. As a successful Lecturer, you will inspire them and provide a positive learning experience, giving them the skills and confidence they need for life after release.
We are seeking an individual who can plan for and communicate with a variety of students to inspire and motivate them. The classes have a maximum of 10 students, supported by a mentor. The sessions are approximately 3 hours long, so lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative. You will support students with progressing towards achieving a Functional Skills qualification through City and Guilds.
If you are as passionate as we are about reducing re-offending and changing people’s minds about what education can be, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!
