What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice Programme involve?
Aimed at highly motivated and ambitious individuals, eager to be a part of a world leader within the aerospace and defence industry. This scheme is geared towards supporting the career development of apprentices who wish to play an instrumental role in the manufacturing of the next generation of civil and military aircraft.
The role is based at Wolverhampton, home of Actuation Systems at Collins Aerospace. Actuation Systems are the leading experts in fly-by-wire, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic actuation design, offering a complete line of actuation products that enhance aircraft performance and reduce pilot workload.
We are looking to recruit a small number of high calibre degree apprentices who can support Actuation Systems with the effective planning and execution of Manufacturing Engineering activities. We believe in the power of intelligence and partnership to guide us into the next era of flight, making the skies and spaces we touch smarter and safer than ever.

A Manufacturing Engineer (ME) within the Collins business leads from the front, living and driving our core values of Engaged, Empowered and Accountable - always.
As an ME, you are accountable for all aspects of project performance ensuring that the needs of the business and our diverse customer base are met across key facets such as Schedule, Cost, Quality & Scope. Alongside the project-based initiatives, you will also provide day-to-day support to Operations, helping to ensure that safety, quality, and output targets are met for a given area of the Wolverhampton facility.
A successful Collins ME is self-motivated with excellent time management and organisation skills. They will also be an expert communicator and can solve the toughest of challenges, all while placing the customer at the centre of everything they do.

The degree apprenticeship programme lasts for a period of 4 years and is a partnership between Collins Aerospace and Aston University. You will learn key engineering principles at Aston University which will be vital to your development at Collins Aerospace such as:
1. Professional engineering practice
2. Computer aided design
3. Manufacturing processes and technology
4. Project management
5. Advanced manufacturing systems
6. Engineering management
7. Digital engineering
By the end of the programme, having completed your rotations and degree apprenticeship, you will be awarded a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for the best individuals who have the following attributes:
1. Minimum of 3 A Levels at BBB or above, including a Mathematics based subject and a STEM subject or equivalent BTECs
2. Have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C/5 or above including Mathematics and English
3. Be a UK resident living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
4. Good analytical skills and problem solving
5. Good personal management and self-organisation skills
6. Effective communicator – written and verbal
