The purpose of the role is to provide professional leadership and operational management, clinical expertise, financial accountability, advice and support of and to the Outpatients’ team and its service, promoting a safe and effective service to all patients. Actively contribute to and deliver Organisational Development aspects of the Development Strategy and the Hospital’s wider business objectives.

About the role
* Plan and implement high standards of care for patients, following hospital policies, guidelines and protocols, promoting a patient-focussed approach to all aspect of care whilst effectively utilising all resources within these areas.
* Ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operational management & coordination of all outpatient clinics, including continence care and preoperative assessment, allocating staff and non-staff resources appropriately.
* Be accountable for ensuring all patient care & treatment areas and associated equipment is safe, always fit for purpose and effectively maintained.
* Be a positive role model for staff and a patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience.
* Be accountable for the line management of all outpatient staff, including continence care and preoperative assessment, and provision of clinical supervision/mentorship accordingly.
* Provide clinical, professional and visible leadership to the Outpatients team.
* Be accountable for the management and coordination of the department, including ensuring all staff maintain competencies & training is achieved in accordance with all mandatory/statutory requirements.
Skills and experience required
* First level Registered Nurse.
* Post registration education in relevant speciality.
* Degree in healthcare or 5+ years equivalent experience.
* Significant post-registration experience with experience of managing teams/services.
* ILS or willingness to undertake training.
* Phlebotomy/ECG or willingness to undertake training.
* Previous experience or knowledge of coaching/managing in a coaching style or willingness to undertake training.
* Mentorship/clinical supervision qualification.
* People and resource management.
* Excellent organisational planning and problem-solving skills, with a can-do attitude.
* Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable.
* Methodical, logical and pays attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
* Proven ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.
* Strong prioritisation/time management skills.
* Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Sound computer skills e.g. MS Office Suite and web-based reporting.
* Financial accountability & knowledge of appropriate measures to monitor and control costs.
* Foster a culture of professionalism and a positive working environment.
* Demonstrate honesty, integrity and ethics in the workplace.
