An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinary surgeon looking to take the next step in their career by stepping into a leadership role as Head Vet at two well-established branches in the Poole area of Dorset.
The Role
This position is ideal for a vet who enjoys working collaboratively within a team while also feeling confident in a sole-charge setting. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in small animal clinical work and use their experience to mentor and support colleagues while maintaining high standards of clinical and client care.
The role is primarily based between two branches, offering a balance between leading a larger team and overseeing a smaller branch surgery. Responsibilities include:
* Leadership & Support – Overseeing vet rotas, leading branch team meetings, and mentoring less experienced vets
* Clinical Excellence – Supporting the team with clinical complaints and ensuring high standards of care
* Operational Oversight – Working alongside the Branch Lead Nurse to provide daily support and resolve any issues
* Business & Branch Development – Contributing to the growth and development of the practice
* Collaboration – Attending monthly leadership meetings with other branch leaders and the senior team
The Role:
* The standard full-time role consists of a four-day week (with the same set day off), though flexible working requests, including child-friendly hours, are welcomed.
* No out-of-hours work is required for this role as emergency care is covered by a dedicated provider
* Saturday mornings are on a shared rota (8:30 am – 12:30 pm).
