Description Department Description: Oracle’s Cloud Data Center Operations team is building and supporting new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services. Position Overview As a Site Lead for Oracle Data Centers, you will report into the Datacentre Manager and will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment and will be key in maintaining the Operational run aspects. You will be supporting our growth path and will be recognized as a ‘technical expert’ with a focus on core Data Center infrastructure. You will troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. As a pragmatic problem solver on a wide range of Data Center environment and systems you understand which issues to escalate to the appropriate resolver groups. You will proactively monitor the customer environment by checking system error logs, monitoring ticket queues and consulting with other groups involved in maintaining the environments. You will make recommendations to resolve system errors and performance issues and take corrective actions. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes and introduce automation with aim towards simplification. You can execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. Ideally, we are seeking someone from a reputable Cloud provider and are also open to receiving applications from Tier 1 Data Center colocation providers. This would suit an individual who is able add significant value based on existing experience whilst evolving their career upstream into Cloud Services. Preferred Experience 5-12 years of experience in Data Center infrastructure Operations support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000 server systems). Incident management experience required, responding to electrical and mechanical failures, focusing on incident resolution and lessons learned. Proficiency in two or more of the following areas: Power capacity allocation for high and low-density racks. Incident management and resolution for outages related to M&E. Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers). Proficiency in data center design, commissioning, and operational best practices. Track record of executing Method of Process (MOP) improvements. Exceptional problem-solving skills and a penchant for delving into system intricacies to resolve customer issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong adherence to processes, assuming the role of a process champion. Effective relationship skills. Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direct management oversight. Experience supporting large Enterprise customers in an Operations environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience. CNET CDCDP or CDCMP 5 years of enterprise data center experience. Familiarity with Linux administration or other command-line interfaces. 2 years of experience in Structured Cabling (Copper/Fiber) and cable testing. 5 years of experience in Cooling and Electrical systems concepts within data centers. Proficiency in repairing and working with enterprise server hardware. LI-DNI Career Level - IC4 Responsibilities Responsibilities Understand the intricacies of Data Centers within your designated region. Conduct audits for power and mechanical capacity and oversee upgrades. Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design-related issues. Liaise with local colocation partners to comprehend and synchronize site utility requisites. Offer after-hours support as necessitated. Ensure rack deliveries and installations are managed and 5s standards implemented. Reword Working with the build team to rollout block expansion for future capacity needs Manage tasks via internal tools like JIRA and Confluence. Uphold meticulous documentation and adherence to SOPs. Assess and prioritize incoming and open tickets based on their severity. Manage inventory processes for data center equipment. Collaborate with project teams and colocation partners to validate the functionality of electrical and mechanical systems. Extend operational support encompassing failure mode analysis, root cause identification, maintenance assistance, best practices, procedural reviews, and more. Curate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation concerning corporate data centers and operational procedures. Collaborate with regional and business leaders to optimize performance, enhance reliability, and improve efficiency across collocated, leased, and owned data center infrastructures. Participate in operational reviews, gathering and analyzing technical data to pinpoint and rectify existing reliability and availability concerns. Offer expertise to address and mitigate global resiliency, reliability, and availability risks. Facilitate the intake, evaluation, and resolution of issues related to collocated, leased, and owned data center builds, focusing on the provision of quality improvement recommendations. Collaborate with internal teams to set and maintain standards, ensuring consistency and reliability in service delivery. Emerge as the go-to technical authority within the team and across other departments for your assigned area.
