Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
As a publicly owned water company, it’s important that Scottish Water achieves long-term value and best-in-class levels of service for the people of Scotland – which is why we are independently regulated. Our Regulatory Assurance team plays a pivotal role in enabling us to build trust with our external stakeholders and regulators.
What we do
Our team supports Scottish Water to achieve short, medium, and long-term objectives. We do this by providing robust evidence to support decision-making, managing relationships with key external stakeholders, and shaping the development of longer-term policy.
In our newly created Regulatory Assurance team, we’re focussed on leading the SR27 Assurance Plan and supporting the development and delivery of the SR27 Business Plan. We work to ensure that submissions are accurate, well-governed, and meet the highest standards of compliance. By streamlining processes and identifying areas for improvement, we contribute to delivering clear, high-quality outputs that inspire confidence in senior leaders and regulators alike.
Through collaboration, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence, we play a key role in supporting Scottish Water’s success in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment.
What you’ll do
As one of our Senior Business Analysts, you’ll play a key part in delivering our SR27 Assurance Plan and in supporting our SR27 Business Plan. You’ll work closely with your team leader and colleagues across the organisation to ensure submissions are accurate, well-structured, and fully compliant with regulatory requirements.
You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to gather and review critical data, helping to streamline reporting processes and maintain the high standards expected by our senior leaders and regulators. Along the way, you’ll identify opportunities to refine and improve how we approach assurance, ensuring our work remains robust and effective.
Your role will involve supporting our governance processes and contributing to the timely preparation of clear, high-quality documentation that meets regulatory expectations. Working within a newly established team, you’ll also help us build a culture of collaboration and excellence in regulatory assurance.
What you’ll bring
You’ll bring a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, ensuring that data and documentation are accurate and consistent. Your ability to communicate effectively will help you work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams, sharing insights and ensuring alignment with governance processes.
With experience in regulatory reporting, assurance, or a similar field, you’ll be familiar with managing complex information and presenting it clearly and confidently. Your proactive approach to problem solving will allow you to identify challenges and contribute to meaningful improvements.
Above all, you’ll be a team player who’s motivated to support the success of our key objectives and deliverables, fostering a culture of quality and compliance throughout your work.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 7. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970.
If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on Thursday 19th of December.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.
A few final things worth knowing…
Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out!
Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.
As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.
Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
We’re here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk
