About The Role
A new opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Team Member to join the LDC Care Co Facilities Department!
You will support the Maintenance Manager to ensure our properties are safe, maintained, and homely environments for the people we support. The majority of our properties are in Dover, as well as Folkestone, Ashford, Herne Bay, and Ramsgate. The postholder will need to travel to all our locations in one of our company vehicles to complete and quality-check works across the full network of properties.
This is a varied role where you will be required to prioritise both reactive and proactive maintenance tasks, ensuring jobs are allocated in accordance to skillset and priority levels, whilst getting stuck into them yourself! The role will also support environmental improvements to properties that enhance the quality of the lives supported by the Company.
Key Responsibilities
Just some of the duties include:
* Completion of general maintenance tasks in response to the needs of the properties overseen by the Company.
* Completing general home improvements, including painting and decorating, plastering, and other related tasks such as fittings and fixtures.
* Fitting and removal of household objects and appliances.
* Small-scale construction works.
* General plumbing, carpentry, and electrical works.
* Undertaking basic gardening.
* Liaison with external contractors, and coordination and quality assurance of works completed.
* Pursuing quotations and setting of scope of works and timescales with external companies.
* Researching and purchasing the required materials, ensuring good value for money.
* Participating in an out of hours On Call roster with other members of the Department, responding to emergency maintenance needs where necessary.
* Waste disposal, or the coordination of collection.
* Supporting tenancy-related tasks connected with general maintenance.
* Maintaining records and systems in line with the Company’s maintenance reporting procedures.
* Work safely and in accordance with the company’s policies and risk assessments to preserve personal safety.
* Reporting and mitigating any health and safety issues observed within a property.
* Carrying out ad hoc duties as required, to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and Service Users.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
* Have previous experience in a similar role, or be able to demonstrate experience and capability within the areas listed above.
* Have a full clean driving licence and be able to safely drive a company van.
* Ideally hold relevant training and qualifications for at least one specialist maintenance area, e.g. carpentry, electricals, gas, etc.
* Uphold the company’s values in providing a safe high-quality home to individuals supported by the company.
* Comply with all company training requirements, and be willing to undertake additional external training at the request of the company.
