About the Role
This role will involve working within the Stores building at Mountsorrel depot from 06:45am until 16:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 06:45am until 15:30pm Fridays.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the stores, ensuring efficient stock layout, stock control and utilising storage appropriately. Adhering to stock processes and waste management procedures.
You will be responsible for ordering, issue resolution, returns and transfers and providing the general depot operatives and technician with daily support with deliveries, yard duties, plant issuing, timesheets etc.
You will manage daily stores transactions ensuring accuracy of recording and input of receipts.
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have experience of managing your own workload and working to deadlines.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Street Lighting scheme resources, including lantern and column allocation, warranty returns and stock levels.
You will have excellent communication skills, and report regularly to the stores and depot supervisor.
This role is a “Safety Critical Post” and, consequently, subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Misuse Policy and Procedure is available upon request.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
* A valid Tele-Handler and Lift Truck license or willingness to work towards.
* Experience of working in an office environment; knowledge of stores and stock control processes is desirable.
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as having initiative to work on your own along with experience in handling conflicting demands.
* Knowledge of Waste Management Regulations and a willingness to work towards a waste qualification / certification.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with customers face to face and on the telephone, and to continue to build on the credibility of the Council and its services.
* Attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of information. Good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
* Good organisational skills and prioritisation of work to tight timescales. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a fast paced, customer focussed construction industry environment.
