SEA’s Senior Human Factors Integration (HFI) Engineer will take responsibility for the Human Systems input across SEA products. They will input to our HFI approach and its execution within all products, in accordance with company strategy. The role holder will influence design work to ensure that SEA products are easy to use and meet HFI Customer requirements; and that our availability and maintainability targets can be achieved for the requisite number of years into the future.
The role will involve the HFI Engineer in all aspects of the design lifecycle, ensuring that the required artifacts are produced throughout. This work is likely to involve sensitive information so they must be able to obtain the necessary security clearance.
The role holder will be required to work across all of SEA’s three UK sites in the West of England (albeit based at the one of their choosing), and at customer and supplier sites as required. They may also occasionally be asked to travel abroad to SEA overseas sites.

There is a requirement to interface with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all of the pertinent HFI design factors are covered. The individual will be required to liaise closely with Engineers from all disciplines: Systems; Software; Electrical; and Mechanical Engineering, as well as with the relevant Project, Programme and Bid Managers.
The HFI Engineer will be required to brief the senior Leadership Team on a regular basis regarding the application of the necessary HFI criteria to our products
Managing HFI activities, including:
Generation and Review of HFI Documentation and Requirements
Carrying out Ergonomic / Anthropometric Assessments
Carrying out Quantitative and Qualitative Human Error and Reliability Assessments
HFI input to ILS activities, including Maintenance activities
HFI input into Human Computer Interface work
HFI input into Verification & Validation (V&V) activities
HFI inputs into Safety Cases
Reviewing Subcontracted work and other management activities associated with outsourcing HSI activities
Providing HFI technical input to bidding activities
The skills you need
Experience of implementing human factors strategies across Defence programmes
Experience in User Experience or Human Computer Interfaces
Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
Chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (or equivalent experience) would be desirable
Degree in Human Factor Engineering – desirable
Team Leadership and Management Experience
