The role
As a Capability Lead within the Structures Team, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for driving the development within the technical areas to ensure we are fit for the future.
Day-to-day, you’ll work with our skilled team to deliver complex tasking to our key customers. You’ll be responsible for development and delivery of workstreams and be recognised as a technical lead responsible for undertaking technical tasking was well as leading the capability areas.
1. Developing workstreams and supporting key customers;
2. Solving in-service structural issues and defects;
3. Developing new technical capabilities;
4. Represent the Structures Engineering Team at Customer meetings, Working Groups and Conferences; and
5. Sustainment and growth of capabilities through training.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Capability Lead:
6. Experienced Engineer with a marine structures background ideally with submarine specific knowledge.
7. Experience in management and delivery of technical outputs as well as coordinating and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
8. Scoping and quality assurance of technical projects.
9. Experience of leading project teams to successful delivery.
10. Evidence of coaching more junior engineers.
Qualifications for the Capability Lead:
11. Degree qualified in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience)
12. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer Status with the UK Engineering Council and holds full membership of a relevant engineering institute (or willingness to work towards chartership within first 6 months of employment)
