Due to promotion, the Pharmacy Department is looking to appoint an ambitious and knowledgeable pharmacist to the role of Head of Pharmacy Clinical Services.
The post-holder will work with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy to ensure that the clinical pharmacy service is safe, effective, and responsive.
This is an exciting time for the department, which is undergoing a lot of positive change. We have ambitious plans to develop our clinical pharmacy services, making even better use of our resources to serve our population most effectively.
Main duties of the job
1. To work with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy to develop, manage, and promote a responsive, proactive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to the clinical areas within the Trust.
2. Lead by example in an agreed specialism ensuring a consistently high-quality service is delivered to the ward area, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
3. Contribute to the strategic development and monitoring of the Clinical Pharmacy services delivered at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
4. Manage, coach, and develop staff within the ward-based medicines management teams.
5. To work with the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team on the safe, effective, and economic use of medicines across the Trust ensuring optimal use of medicines budget for the relevant specialty and identification and delivery of medication-related cost improvement plans.
6. To contribute to the delivery of the broader Medicines Optimisation and Governance Strategy across the Trust. These outcomes will be achieved primarily through leadership of clinical staff and the publication and implementation of guidelines and procedures to encourage best practice.
7. To work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary and wider pharmacy teams to optimise patient flow and patient outcomes.

* Minimum of 5 years as a qualified Pharmacist
* Experience of working at a senior level within a relevant specialty

* Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy
* 1 year preregistration and experience
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
