You will provide specific technical support services to academic and research staff, students, and visiting researchers in the Marine laboratory to ensure research can be conducted in a safe and efficient way. This post is based in the Queens Marine Laboratory in Portaferry.
About the person:
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:
1. Hold an OND/ONC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject.
2. Have recent relevant technical work experience in a relevant teaching/research laboratory.
3. Have experience of providing health and safety guidance and advice to staff/students and/or visitors.
4. Have experience of planning and managing outdoor fieldwork activities in a relevant work-based setting.
5. Have experience of working with marine species.
6. Have experience of laboratory equipment and undertaking basic preventative maintenance.

Fixed-term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
