Midlands Medical Partnership (MMP) is seeking an experienced, proactive, and patient-focused Specialist Nurse with expertise in women’s health to lead and deliver high-quality services across our practice network. 1. Job Role/Purpose:
The Specialist Women’s Health Nurse plays a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within Midlands Medical Partnership. The role focuses on providing contraception services, including the fitting and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants, as well as supporting women with menopause management.
Key responsibilities include monitoring the delivery of women’s health services, conducting audits, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The post holder works collaboratively with the Chief Nursing Officer and the Lead GP for Women’s Health to ensure services meet clinical standards and improve patient outcomes. This role is integral to enhancing the health and well-being of women across the patient population.
2. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
1. Provide consultations, advice, and treatment for women seeking contraception, including the fitting and removal of IUDs and implants, across all MMP sites.
2. Deliver specialist menopause support, including the initiation and ongoing management of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and advice on lifestyle changes.
3. Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualised care plans in line with national guidelines.
4. Provide follow-up consultations to ensure optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction.
5. Offer sexual health advice, including screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
6. Support cervical screening programs and provide information on other women’s health-related screening services.
Service Monitoring and Quality Improvement
1. Monitor the performance of women’s health services within MMP, ensuring accessibility, effectiveness, and patient-centred care.
2. Undertake audits to assess service delivery and compliance with clinical guidelines (e.g., NICE, FSRH, and British Menopause Society standards).
3. Provide regular reports and updates to the Chief Nursing Officer and Lead GP for Women’s Health.
4. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.
Education and Advocacy
1. Educate patients on contraception options, menopause care, and broader women’s health topics to empower informed decision-making.
2. Provide training, mentorship, and advice to colleagues on women’s health-related issues.
3. Support the development of patient education materials and group sessions as needed.
Administrative and Professional Responsibilities
1. Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the surgery team.
2. Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients’ notes on the clinical computer systems as appropriate.
3. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the surgery.
4. Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
5. Attend and participate in meetings as required.
6. Assist in the formation of practice philosophy, strategy, and policy and develop appropriate protocols.
Research
1. Cooperate and participate as required in any research projects within the surgery.
Liaison
1. Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the surgery, with regard to confidentiality.
Professional Development
1. Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
2. The post holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment.
3. To participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
4. Take responsibility for own development, learning, and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
Collaboration and Leadership
1. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care.
2. Contribute to MMP’s wider strategy for improving women’s health services.
3. Other Responsibilities
Health and Safety
1. To comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
2. To take responsibility for their own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their own acts or omissions.
3. To ensure all staff are fully trained and conversant with fire regulations and health and safety and understand what to do in an emergency.
4. Ensure a trained first aider is available in the building.
5. Ensure fire alarms are tested regularly and within the set guidelines.

1. To work within the Clinical Governance Framework of the practice, incorporating Risk Management and all other quality initiatives and all aspects of CQC implementation.

To maintain confidentiality of information relating to patients, clients, staff, and other users of the services in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 including outside of the work environment. Any breach of confidentiality may render an individual liable for dismissal and/or prosecution.
Safeguarding
1. Whilst in post, staff are expected to acquire and update their knowledge on safeguarding as per the intercollegiate document requirements and MMP policies.
General
1. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, within the bounds of his/her own competence as guided by the attached management framework.
2. To work across the various MMP sites as required.
3. In light of national policy and due to the needs of the business it may be necessary for the Partnership to alter the opening hours of the surgeries. This could incorporate different opening hours and weekend working which may affect when you are required to work. The post holder is expected to be flexible and accommodating, following consultation, in terms of any changes to operating times in the future.
