We have an excellent new opportunity to become a Standards & Assurance Manager within Water Treatment. This is an 18 Month Secondment to cover Maternity Leave.
The purpose of the role is to develop, implement, and manage first line assurance checks for Water Quality across Water Treatment to improve the operational compliance against standards across Surface Water or Groundwater Reservoirs & Boosters departments. Additionally, you will be responsible for the standards and compliance improvement program within your region, influencing operational teams and holding management to account for compliance against standards, procedures and systems of work.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Your key accountabilities will be:
1. Deliver a standardised, systematic approach to the management of regulatory standards, procedures, and processes across Water Treatment and Water Quality Improvement, with a focus on first line assurance of Water Quality (WQ).
2. Document procedures, processes, and systems of work to a high quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and legislation, and ensure that they remain controlled correctly and within date.
3. Provide support, advice and coaching to operational sites and first line assurance teams to embed and sustain our Water Quality (WQ) standards.
4. Manage a proactive WQ assurance programme of operational sites within WT and align these to other business functions such as DWSP and IMS.
5. Manage required WQ technical standards, ensuring that they are frequently reviewed and maintained by relevant stakeholders.
6. Have oversight of key WQ tasks across WT to align with WQ assurance and technical standards.
7. Ensure alignment and adherence to technical standards across first line assurance activities including aligning Effectiveness of Controls, Operational checks, WQ tasks.
8. Support the compliance improvement program across Water Treatment to reduce regulatory (DWI/EA/NRW) and operational (ODI) failures and improved safety compliance (HSE).
9. Report on compliance performance within regional comm cells and performance meetings. Escalate significant areas of underperformance to the Business Lead.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
It would be advantageous to have an understanding of appropriate compliance legislation, DWI codified procedures and legislation, safety standards and regulation, plus critical operational compliance tasks. Extensive technical knowledge within Water Treatment Operations is required. Having worked within a management system framework, and experience driving performance improvement would be desirable.
Travelling to operational sites will be essential for this role and therefore a full UK driving license will be required.
