The Macmillan Acute Oncology Service (AOS) within Hywel Dda University Health Board is an essential interface between acute local services and oncology, supporting person-centred care through improved communication, timely access to expert advice, improved patient experience, early discharge, and admission avoidance. The oncology triage line is an important part of this service and we are looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to support the current service.
The role will involve health board wide support to the current service; individual work base will depend on applicant location: Bronglais, Glangwili, or Withybush hospital. Remote/home working will be possible once the applicant is fully trained.
Main duties of the job
The main focus of this role will be to provide support and advice to people experiencing complications of their anticancer treatment through the Health Board Cancer Treatment Triage Line. This role will also support the care of inpatients, requiring specialist oncology advice during an admission to hospital. Weekend and some out of hours working will be required for this post. Once competencies are achieved, the post holder will be required to support the Health Board Cancer Treatment Triage Line at weekends approximately every 2-4 weeks as well as occasional Bank Holiday cover.
