Job Overview
Are you passionate about digital innovation in engineering? Do you have experience with digital design tools and a deep understanding of how they drive engineering excellence? Southern Water is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Digital Design Lead to join our dynamic Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between IT and engineering, acting as the main point of contact between our Engineering and Digital teams, while driving digital transformation and improving design processes.
Responsibilities will include:
Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering and Southern Water’s Digital team. Manage relationships with key software providers, ensuring that design tools remain compatible with those used by our supply chain, including design consultants and contractors. Represent Southern Water at industry conferences and seminars.
Technical Leadership: Oversee software upgrades for all digital design tools. Support team members in the development of automation tools and manage the introduction of new software. Ensure smooth access to large data files and assist the design supply chain with digital compatibility issues.
Innovation & Strategy: Take a forward-thinking approach to the digital design strategy, identifying areas for continuous improvement and driving innovation within the team. Facilitate new digital initiatives and challenge established methods to enhance technical delivery.
Financial & Commercial: Manage licensing agreements for digital tools and collaborate with the IT team on purchasing software upgrades. Prepare business cases for new IT initiatives to enhance the team’s capabilities.
About You
* A solid understanding of digital design tools and their role in the engineering design process.
* Technical expertise in how digital tools interact and integrate with one another.
* The ability to communicate complex digital design concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and prioritising solutions.
* A collaborative approach, engaging with team members and stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
* The ability to make confident decisions and be accountable for delivery.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a related field.
