Role Purpose
To manage a small team to ensure the accurate and timely production of management accounts and reporting in accordance with internal & group reporting deadlines, ensuring agreed accounting policies, reconciliations, and standards are implemented and maintained.
Operational
1. Coordinate the month-end close process for all business travel entities.
2. Take responsibility for the production of financial reporting, management accounts, and executive reporting, ensuring they are prepared in the agreed format and within the established timeline.
3. Review month-end journals to ensure accuracy and compliance and make informed decisions regarding accruals and prepayments.
4. Ensure robust financial procedures and processes are maintained in a high-volume, multi-system environment.
5. Ensure compliance with current financial regulations and legislation.
6. Prepare for financial audits and liaise with external auditors, supporting the annual group audit process.
7. Coordinate and review balance sheet control account reconciliations, ensuring they are supported by appropriate documentation.
8. Support the preparation and production of annual budgets and periodic forecasts within agreed deadlines, challenging management assumptions as necessary to ensure accuracy.
9. Assist in the improvement and development of financial reporting, providing relevant and accurate financial information to managers at all levels within the business. Additionally, offer financial support to non-finance managers.
10. Provide support and mentorship to the business travel finance team.
11. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Attend relevant meetings and provide ad hoc reports as required to all levels of internal and external clients.
People Management
1. Consider PDPs and set expectations on appraisals and 121s (All employees should have as a minimum 2 reviews each year, at mid and end of year). 121s should be regular as required based on the individual, weekly, biweekly, or monthly as a minimum.
2. Manage, support, and coach individual and team performance.
3. Maximise individual and team results by increasing productivity and improving overall performance.
4. Encourage a customer-focused working environment with clear responsibilities and expectations for team members.
5. Hold regular team talks to ensure they are kept informed about performance against targets and key business issues.
6. Be an ambassador of our brand and create a culture where people are motivated and can thrive.
7. Champion wellbeing and support mental health within your team – creating a safe space for conversations, supporting with change, taking part in Healthy space activities and encouraging a healthy work-life balance.

Minimum Requirements:
* Qualified accountant
* Sound technical knowledge
* Proven track record of leading and overseeing a finance team, including mentoring and developing staff, managing workloads, and ensuring the smooth execution of financial processes.
* Excellent Excel skills
* Proactive with a forward-thinking and self-motivated approach to work.
* Strong time management skills with the capability to prioritise tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues, senior management, and external partners, fostering positive working relationships.
