The Shop Assistant is responsible for hosting the eco community shop and carrying out the duties of the post.
To assist in managing the shop on specified days, in line with company policy, to maximise fundraising activities to help the project beneficiary groups. To communicate regularly with the Shop Manager on all operational and other relevant issues that affect the running of the shop including helping people who are affected by the cost of living, humanitarian crisis, homelessness, or at risk of homelessness.
Duties
1. To be responsible for the specified day(s) management of the shop, to enable the shop to operate effectively and achieve its maximum trading potential.
2. To assist other volunteers effectively and give training to new volunteers on company operating methods on specified day/s as required.
3. To assist new shop staff and volunteers informed of all operational matters and communicate any of the Managers instructions.
4. To record all donations for items and to work with the Manager to achieve agreed donation targets to achieve budget figures.
5. To work with the Manager to remain within the agreed shop budget.
6. To help and signpost people who are in need of further help, at risk of homelessness, and safeguarding issues of people or families to managers.
7. To control and maintain the stock (including moving donations within the shop and atrium), the security of stock and cash always, and ensure monies are kept safe on the specified day.
8. To maintain all administrative procedures and complete appropriate paperwork accurately and on time.
9. To adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure that staff and volunteers work safely and are trained to use equipment.
10. To notify the Management of any repairs or maintenance that is required.
11. To give feedback on the daily activities and make recommendations for better service.
12. To adhere to Get Rid of and Donates policies and procedures and quality standards.
13. To promote Get Rid of and Donate CIC aims and objectives.
