Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
We support individual therapy work, through supervision with experienced colleagues in a range of therapy models, case discussion with the wider Step 4 team and support further training.
As well as being part of the Step 4 Team, the successful candidates will be part of a vibrant and friendly group of psychologists who work across the Trust. We meet on a regular basis to share ideas, CPD and leadership meetings. Our commitment to you is that we will provide you with opportunities to develop professionally within a committed and supportive adult mental health service, which plays an important role in supporting increasing access to psychological therapies within community settings. The posts are being supported by the Consultant Lead for Step 4, as well as the Professional Lead for Clinical Psychology within AMH.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society
2. Completion of two-year post-doctoral supervisor training workshop programme (or equivalent individual workshops).
3. HCPC registered
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of supervised practice working as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist within adult services and/or primary care context, with complex psychological difficulties.
2. Experience of supervising trainee Clinical or Counselling Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and/or other professionals
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working at Step 4 of the stepped care model
2. Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds including working with interpreters
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
1. Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of the application of relevant psychological theories and therapies, for complex psychological difficulties
2. Knowledge of Department of Health related policies and national strategic developments in mental health/psychological therapies
3. Knowledge of professional guidance and relevant practice issues
4. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and management and evaluation
2. Competence in designing and using a range of appropriate brief interventions appropriate for Step 4, including both individual and group interventions.
3. Ability to make judgements involving highly complex facts, or situations that require analysis, interpretation and a comparison of a range of options.
