Our client, a leading player in the defence and security sector, is looking to contract a Lead Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of project engineering tasks across various defence and security projects. Key Responsibilities: Ensure design compliance across all projects. Manage design sub-contractors effectively. Approve project designs and ensure they meet safety and structural standards. Oversee test and verification processes. Support the recruitment and mobilisation of the Project Engineering team. Develop and maintain the WTB Design and Engineering Management Plan. Implement design and engineering processes and procedures specific to the project. Oversee design teams to develop safe and efficient engineering solutions. Manage the system of systems approach for delivering the project. Ensure project engineering operations are safe and efficient. Complete design and engineering tasks on time and within budget. Ensure compliance with the customer's system requirements and contractual obligations. Manage sub-contractor designs and engineering outputs to ensure compliance. Develop and execute Trials, Verification, and Validation Plans. Achieve necessary systems certifications. Job Requirements: BSc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. Active certification in an engineering professional organisation. Professional Engineering Licensure. Advanced understanding of engineering principles and procedures. Skills / Experience Required: Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment at Chief Engineer or Design Management level. Knowledge of System Engineering principles and practices. Ability to bridge the communication gap between various stakeholders. Experience leading diverse teams. Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Management Systems. Proficiency in design software packages. Experience with Military Organisations and associated procurement establishments. Knowledge of AQAP, Mil Stan, Def Stan, European, British, and ISO standards. Understanding of human factors engineering. Strong organisational and time management skills. Security Cleared or able to achieve security clearance. Understanding of the process for CE marking of equipment systems. Additional Information: This role requires UK and international travel, mostly in Europe.
