In addition to offering the more traditional programmes of study such as GCSE and A-level, students can also follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, University Foundation Programme and various preparatory programmes (PRE-KS4 and PRE-KS5 one-year programmes). Business and Economics are very popular subjects with our students, who also often apply to related university courses, both nationally and internationally. Hence, we are not only looking for a Teacher who can harness the international contexts of our classrooms and offer an inclusive environment for students to engage in dialogue and develop their academic skills, but also someone who can drive engaging co-curricular opportunities for our students and staff. We expect teachers to be involved in our super-curricular activities, which we call electives, where currently members of the faculty offer Fast Fashion, Economics Society, Econometrics Electives, in addition to preparing students for subject-related Olympiads and HULT competitions. Furthermore, teachers and students benefit from our close relationship with one of our sister schools (Guildhouse, London) which is home to the only Bloomberg Lab in a high school in Europe. There are opportunities at Worthgate for successful applicants to undertake the NPQ qualifications (Leading Teaching, Senior Leadership and Headship) with us in partnership with UCL and multiple teachers enrol on these NPQ programmes each year. For January 2025 we are looking for a person who has: Subject specialism in Business and/or Economics with a degree in a related discipline; Ability to teach both Business and Economics (desirable); A critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas; o Knowledge of the IBDP curriculum would be an advantage, although training can be provided; Enthusiasm to identify and embrace extra- and co-curricular opportunities to enrich our student experience; An ability to promote high standards of literacy and articulacy in the English language; Responsive teaching strategies that incorporate high quality feedback and a focus on literacy; A proven record of excellent, reflective, and inspiring classroom practice; Responsive teaching strategies that incorporate high-quality feedback; Enthusiasm for continued professional learning; Commitment to ensuring our students have an enriched, holistic boarding school experience. This role would be suitable for experienced teachers, although applications from ambitious new professionals will be welcomed and considered.
