Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Assistant \n\nA really rewarding position has become available for a Mental Health Support Worker to work in a school in Oxford.\nThis is an excellent position to gain really valuable experience whilst also making a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children. A really fulfilling opportunity!\nThese students struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD and various other mood disorders.\nThese young people need someone who can facilitate a positive and safe environment for them to learn and grow.\nThe students are between the ages of 2 and 19, so you would have the opportunity to work with students of all ages and backgrounds!\nThis can making learning really difficult, this is where you would come in. \nAs a mental health assistant you will directly be involved in helping children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health.\nYou will be helping to make learning fun and engaging whilst also ensuring that learning is becoming concrete.\nYour day-to-day duties will involve supporting and shadowing the class teacher, whilst providing 1:1 support for the SEN students.\nYou will also help run exciting lessons to ensure the classroom is a fun and exciting place.
Behavioural management may also be required.\nThe role would suit someone who is resilient and confident in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs.\nThis is a great opportunity for aspiring psychologists, social workers, therapists and counsellors.Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. Those with a background in sports, art or drama will also be at an advantage.
