ROLE TITLE: PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (POWER SYSTEMS) REPORTING LINE:The Principal Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Electrical Engineering Team Lead. DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW: The Electrical Engineering Department oversees the Electrical Design and Integration of all vessel sub-systems. Responsible for the delivery of the high performance and innovative electrical systems required across our entire product portfolio here at Artemis Technologies Ltd. The team collaborates closely with all technical departments including Control Systems, Naval Architecture, Propulsion & Mechanical Systems (P&MS), Energy Solutions, Compliance and Vessel Operations to develop ground-breaking zero-emissions foiling vessel technologies. THE ROLE: Responsible for the development and implementation of Vessel Power Electrical Architectures, power distribution system design, control system hardware integration, sub-system electrical design and integration, including but not limited to: Thermal Systems, Steering Systems, Flight Control, Propulsion, Energy Storage System (ESS), Alerting and Monitoring, Safety Systems and Cabin systems. Working within a team to bring our Artemis Technologies Ltd. (ATL) sub-systems together cohesively. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:? Lead on the development of electrical power distribution systems including the specification and selection of appropriate components considering factors all applicable electrical factors and safety standards. Preparation of comprehensive technical documentation, including system diagrams, switchgear panel layouts, schematics, specifications, test plans, and validation reports, etc. Staying well informed about advancements in emerging technologies, industry trends, and maritime standards to enhance the performance of our electrical systems. Lead on engineering design reviews, assessing the impacts of proposed changes, and providing expert guidance on best practices to ensure optimal design and implementation. Guarantee cohesive working between engineering teams and other related departments to ensure all design aspects are considered for electrical sub-system design and integration. Onboard and consult with electrical manufacturers and distributors when necessary. Support the creation of manufacturing drawings and instructions. Support the creation/update of internal ATL electrical standards and SOPs. Support vessel operations with end of line testing and aftersales if required. Provide electrical engineering support to in-house builds when necessary. Development of Power System Models, with focus on short circuit calculations, fuse selectivity/discrimination and harmonic analysis. Development of grounding strategies, equipotential bonding, lightning protection systems and galvanic protection systems. Cable specification with consideration for; sizing through voltage drop and current calculation, insulation, shielding requirements etc. Support the creation of functional design specifications, DFMEAs and Functional Safety Assessments. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential Education/Qualifications and Experience: Holder of Bachelor (BSc/BEng) degree and/or Master of Science (MSc) in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.) 5 years working in or towards a Principal Electrical Engineering position or similar. Extensive experience in lieu of education requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Key Skills Required: Technical/Design skills: Extensive Experience working with Hazardous Voltage (>60VDC), 230VAC and 400VAC Electrical Systems. Experience working on Electric Propulsion Drivelines. Knowledge of Electrical CAD packages (Zuken E3, EPlan or similar). Experience using AutoCAD (2D) and/or Catia (3D) or similar. Experience in Marine Power Distribution Systems is highly desirable. Ability to perform analysis using industry recognized analytical tools. Ability to perform electrical load calculations and flow analysis. Experience inshort circuit calculations, fuse selectivity/discrimination and harmonic analysis. Experience in Electrical System Commissioning with ability to fault find and diagnose. Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations. Skilled in the creation of Wiring Schematics, SLDs, GAs, Etc. Experience in the Specification of Cable, glanding and retainment systems. Understanding of System Requirements Engineering & associated Tools Experience with Electrical Design for EMC. Experienced in the use of electrical test equipment. Hands on practical experience around electrical systems, with knowledge of safe working practices. Communication Skills: Good report writing skills clear, concise, and well structured. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organising Skills: Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues. A focus on delivery to an agreed schedule. Experience using a task management software to track progress. Teamworking Skills: Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
