79930 - Logistics Delivery Manager
This Logistics Delivery Manager will report to the Head of Logistics and Transport and will work within Network Operations based in our Childerditch office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £80,000 per annum (depending on experience), bonus of 10% and a car allowance.

JOB PURPOSE:
You will ensure the delivery of materials through either Logistics fleet or third-party contracts and is enacted both safely whilst ensuring internal customer expectations are dealt with.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
10. Always conduct oneself to promote a positive image of the logistics function and UK Power Networks in general demonstrating the Vision and Values of the company
11. Manage the following teams:
12. Technical Service and Development to ensure customer interactions and expectations are dealt with.
13. Cable Management to ensure 3rd Party Provider administers following contractual agreements
14. Transport Teams to ensure physical delivery of materials is safely implemented following plan.
15. Plant Assembly Centre ensuring assembly of plant and related materials for onward distribution and installation and disassembly
16. Management of all associated cost centres to achieve budgets
17. Take ownership of customer enquiries and concerns originating from the Customer Issue Log, provide efficient feedback and resolution within agreed timeframe targets
18. Prepare and publish Management Reports for monthly management meetings to improve actions
19. Utilise an Activity Matrix to plan and complete daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tasks
20. Ensure procedures, process flow and SOPs and maintained
21. Ensure selection training for all teams and reduce skill gaps through internally provided training or external bodies
22. Ensure the entire Logistics transport fleet is used cost-effectively and improve vehicle-operating levels
23. Ensure legal compliance of the logistics transport fleet with transport legislation.
24. Work with the Networks Business identifying opportunities to improve processes and add value
25. Manage all Logistics Emergency Stores, agree and maintain stocking levels, develop and action a audit plan
26. Together with Asset Management, manage the rationalisation of stock part numbers across all Distribution Centres, review the stock holding of strategic spares
27. Manage the delivery of non-coded strategic project materials held at the request of Asset Management to the Networks Business upon request
28. Deputise for the Head of Logistics and Transport on request in cases of absence, completing ad-hoc responsibilities
NATURE AND SCOPE:
We are looking for people with coaching skills, the ability to think laterally, along with communication experience to engage all partners across the business from field staff to Senior Management.
The Logistics Delivery Manager is accountable for the physical delivery of materials to meet customer-focused expectations while exploring options to improve service and reduce cost.
Specific departments within sphere of influence and detailed in organisational structure are:
29. 3rd Party Logistics contract management
30. Customer interaction including delivery point and emergency store management
31. Distribution Fleet management
32. Plant Assembly Centre management
You will ensure steps are taken to achieve targets following SMT direction namely safety, service and cost.
In context of the Network Operations Continuous Improvement (MDW Programme), the Manager or (Coach), creates understanding, develops competence and inspires the teams.
Important responsibilities include:
33. Attend MDW1 meetings to maintain the team leader and team
34. Agrees stretch targets with the MDW1 and sets trigger levels. Provide direction, autonomy, support. Challenges and focuses the team, finds opportunities to recognise good performance.
35. Lead the MDW2 meeting; provide all resources, time and opportunities for the team to make improvements.
36. Review and resolve customer / supplier issues and removes obstacles for MDW1 teams.
37. Ensure team members work on innovations, projects and complete in defined time frames; know how to bring the right people together.
38. 'Walks the Talk' regarding the Logistics Visions and Values and explains these regarding demonstrated behaviour.
The Storm Role for this position will be categorised as Logistics Distribution Co-ordinator
There is a requirement to travel within this role.
ATTITUDE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Qualifications
39. HNC / HND education level would be desirable as this expresses a willingness to self-develop
40. A recognised external Logistics qualification would be advantageous such as Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport to at least a CILT Level 5 Professional Diploma or equivalent
41. Experience working within a Logistics function is important
