Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an accident and emergency department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals.
We serve a population of around 210,000 in Weymouth and Portland, West Dorset, North Dorset, and Purbeck, and provide renal services for 850,000 across Dorset and South Somerset.
Our staff of 3,000 work across various settings including GP surgeries, schools, residential homes, and patients' homes, as well as at Dorset County Hospital and community hospitals.

Job Overview
We seek an experienced, enthusiastic specialty-grade surgeon to join our general surgical team at a district hospital in Dorset. The role involves supporting ward activities, clinics, theatres, and participating in a 1:8 on-call rota, including emergency CEPOD surgeries.

Person Specification
Education and Training
* GMC Registration and license to practice
* Postgraduate training in General Surgery - FRCS/MRCS or equivalent
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum four years clinical experience in General Surgery
* At least one year NHS experience
* Good communication skills
Desirable criteria include independent surgical skills and specialist experience.
Experience of multidisciplinary working is also valued.
