Linfoot ward is a Community Hospital based in the centre of Witney.
We are a 15 bedded ward that manages 3 groups of patients:
1. 4 EMU patients
2. 4 Plus size patients
3. 7 generic rehab patients
We are supported currently by a medical team from the OUH that are on the ward 9-5 Monday to Friday. The team consists of a Consultant, Registrar & an F2, as well as a medical team from EMU who are in-house.
RNs also get opportunities to work as autonomous practitioners when the medical team is not present.
It is a busy ward, and you will have lots of opportunities for development. We will aim for you to have some supernumerary time on the ward when you start so that you can observe what happens, get used to the ward, its paperwork, attend MDT and also have the opportunity to spend time with our Ward Clerk and the Therapy team.
As an RN, you will manage a caseload of patients and be responsible for their medications, managing and directing their care. You will work with a small team who will follow your care plans and report back to you.
We use a computer system called EMIS to record your notes and complete update care plans at least weekly.
In time, you will have opportunities to be the ward Co-Ordinator, which can be a challenging role, managing the admissions and discharges, liaising with both medical and nursing teams, and managing any staffing issues.
You will have opportunities for ongoing development, have both CS and MS every 6 weeks, and be able to look at the development pathway you would like to follow in the future.
