Eden Scott's is thrilled to be supporting their client, a market leading environmental consultancy, on their search for a Principal Consultant - Water Quality (Fresh Water)
This is an exciting and influential new role within the growing freshwater consultancy division - the team provides water and sediment quality monitoring, analysis and interpretation services for all environments including rivers, lakes, canals and reservoirs. They also monitor and analyse biological data to understand the impact of overflows and discharges on water quality (e.g. SOAF) and co-ordinate the business's response to pollution incidents.
You and your team will be responsible for winning and delivering projects across the whole range of water quality technical services. You will prepare high quality and compliant tenders and deliver detailed data analysis and technical reports. You will work closely with the Associate Directors and other Principal Consultants to expand the Water Quality team, influencing and shaping current and future work streams, and expanding our customer base and service offerings.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading and mentoring a team of Consultants and Senior Consultants to produce timely, accurate and high quality tenders and reports.
2. Reviewing and signing off tenders, reports, providing constructive feedback and coaching where required in order to achieve this.
3. Ensuring that all output is delivered to the highest standard, in line with timescales agreed with the client, within budget and to the highest technical quality.
4. Tender preparation including scoping, writing proposals, setting budgets and developing work programmes.
5. Project management of large scale projects with multidisciplinary teams based in various locations.
6. Client management, successfully developing, maintaining and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Ideal background / qualifications:
7. BSc or MSc degree in a relevant subject and at least five years' professional experience in environmental water quality work.
8. Knowledge of water and sediment quality assessment and management including at least one of the following: water quality impact assessments, modelling, reservoir management, catchment management, algal blooms, taste and odour, lake nutrient budgeting, and lake restoration.
9. An understanding of key UK environmental legislation.
10. Experience of working in a commercial consulting environment
