As a specialist anti-infectives pharmacist, reporting to the lead pharmacists anti-infectives; you will be supported and given the opportunity to spend time: - Participating in antimicrobial stewardship rounds and multidisciplinary clinical review meetings to advise on infection management. - Work with the pharmacy anti-infectives team to support the review and introduction of guidelines for antimicrobial therapies. - Developing the response and change in practice to manage the current increase in C.difficile cases including regular combined ward rounds with IP&C. Contribute to the provision of education for all staff to support the appropriate use of antimicrobials. - Participate in audit and surveillance of antimicrobial usage and resistance trends to support antimicrobial stewardship activities and ensure cost-effective use of antimicrobials. - The successful candidate will be expected to lead on world antimicrobial resistance awareness week and actively participate in teaching surrounding antimicrobial stewardship. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing patients with complex infection, ideally be a prescriber and have a sound knowledge of antimicrobial stewardship and IP&C practice. Experience of public health promotion and teaching is desirable. You will be an experienced clinical pharmacist with a passion for infection and antimicrobial stewardship. Your practice will be patient-focused, compassionate and self-motivated to deliver excellent standards of clinical care. You need to have the ability to communicate well, inspire confidence and work well both independently and as part of a team. All staff are expected to contribute to extended hours (maximum requirement 1 in 5 late nights until 7pm), weekends (1 in 6 weekends (working either Sat or Sun)) and bank holidays. This includes general dispensary duties such as dispensing prescriptions and clinical pharmacy duties. This role needs to include working on a Wednesday and Thursday to complement the working hours of the existing team.
