You as their SEND Teaching Assistant would work with students to make their learning more purposeful and engaging.
The superb position is due to start ASAP, and would be either on a 12-week temp to perm basis, or on ongoing contract basis - working Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 16:30.
Main duties of the SEND Teaching Assistant will include:
1. Providing emotional support with your small group of SEN students to help them on their learning and discovery journey within education.
2. Escorting various students that have been assigned to you with learning difficulties and disabilities to their classes each day, ensuring they are in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to reach their full learning potential.
3. Maintaining and keeping accurate records fully up to date with their daily achievements.
4. Maintaining daily administration by keeping their EHCP fully updated, ensuring all staff and SLT are fully informed about each student, allowing them to flourish in their journey into higher education.
5. Giving daily support with academic, sporting and outdoor activities, helping SEN students to implement independent methods to support their coping mechanisms for day-to-day personal and social tasks.
6. Always maintaining speech and language communication, instilling confidence and self-esteem in each student.
7. Engaging with parents/guardians to build healthy relationships on a daily or weekly basis through face-to-face meetings or phone calls.
8. Leading SEND small classroom support groups, allowing time to communicate with each student in your group to support them if they find any task difficult.
The suitable candidate for the SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
1. Previous experience of working within a SEN Teaching Assistant environment, especially with students from primary and or secondary with special needs.
2. Patience and a consistent attitude essential for providing the best level of SEND support and care.
3. A high level of emotional and physical strength to deal with the changing environments of students with special needs, along with a good sense of humour to keep students happy and motivated.
4. A strong and comprehensive knowledge of compliance and safeguarding procedures.
5. Relevant qualifications and or training in special educational and related fields are advantageous but not essential.
